I’m Lisa Watkins, host of Behind the Bib.
This podcast was born out of a simple idea: running isn’t just for the podium. It’s for the pack — every pace, every body, every story. I started Behind the Bib to give voice to the runners who finish with the biggest smiles, not necessarily the fastest times.
My own story isn’t one of speed — it’s one of stubborn joy. I’ve been dropped by run clubs, left in the middle of the woods, and crossed finish lines while the volunteers were already packing up. I’ve stood in that lonely space where you wonder if you belong in this sport. And I made a promise: no one else should ever feel that way. There’s room for all of us out here.
Each episode digs into what really happens behind the race photos and shiny medals — the small victories, the big lessons, and the messy middle miles that make this sport what it is. From local race directors to everyday runners, we talk about the grit, the humor, and the humanity of running.
When I’m not behind the mic, you can find me running the greenways of Huntsville, Alabama, juggling NASA spreadsheets, or planning my next “aggressively average” race.
Because here’s the truth: running doesn’t care how fast you are. It just wants you to show up.
Whether you’re first, last, or somewhere in between — I’ll see you next time we’re Behind the Bib.
